Grades K-6 Math Informational Meeting
For parents of students in Grades K-6, there will be an informational meeting about the new Math in Focus program. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the RMHS Performing Arts Center and will feature a guest presenter from the Math in Focus program.
As you know, the Math in Focus program is being implemented this year in grades K-6 (replacing the Everyday Math program). Houghton Mifflin Harcourt describes Math in Focus as the U.S. version of Singapore math, which draws on “best practices from around the world, and highlights problem solving as the focus of mathematical learning.” The program aligns very well with the Massachusetts Curriculum Framework and offers an effective, research-based pedagogy which “balances conceptual understanding, visual learning, and problem solving to help all students achieve greater success.”
We hope you can join us on October 16th. If you have any questions, please contact your school principal or the Reading Public Schools administration offices at 781-944-5800.
