4th grade Free Rice study culminates with visit to OMA
Fourth and sixth graders have been using their computer lab time in art to study works of famous artists on the Free Rice site. Students are enjoying the learning process while using this tool for art criticism and contributing to feeding the hungry. Students competed to see which class could earn the most points. It was so exciting to see the overwhelming enthusiasm of the students and the thrill they had for learning both at school and at home. Fourth graders won the contest and asked to go visit a "real" museum. Orlando Museum of Art graciously gave us a grant which covered museum admission and a tour. Our students were led by two very knowledgeable docents and participated like champs in the activities that were part of the program. It was a wonderful learning experience and another opportunity to witness the quality of our students while watching them build knowledge through experiences that add to their overall growth.
