Are You Moving??

If you are PCSing please let the front office know, so we are able to get your child’s records ready for the next school. Or if your family is just upgrading to a bigger/ newer house in housing or out, please let us know, so that we have the most current and up to date information on file J

With the nicer weather underway, we have noticed a some of our students that are arriving to school too early.

The students should NOT be arriving to school earlier than 8:30am. As that is when the first bell rings and the students come into the building and head to class. When students arrive before 8:30 they are directed to line up outside their designated entry doors.

We encourage students to not arrive before 8:30 as we DO NOT have staff outside of our building before this time to watch after the students. We have noticed and had some students getting hurt due to playing sports and/or horsing around outside before school. (especially outside by our 4th & 5th grade entry) If you could PLEASE help with this issue we would greatly appreciate it J

Important dates to remember:

June 14th, 15th, & 16th - Early Dismissal Day (students are dismissed at 12:45, also all students are served lunch, 40 minutes earlier than regular lunch times)

June 14th 3-5th Grades will have an awards assembly in our cafeteria (more info will follow soon)

June 16th at 9:15am we will begin our 5th Grade Celebration Ceremony

Rising 6th Grade Students-

Just a friendly reminder that you have to have your TDap shot before entering the 6th grade. The Middle School will not generate your school schedule until they have your TDap info on file! Please turn them into the school nurse ASAP or over the summer to the middle school office. Thank you!

Too sick for school:

The following information is from the Health Library at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter.  Considerations for Keeping your Child home:

1)      If your child has persistent heavy nasal discharge

2)      If your child has a persistent heavy cough

3)      If your child has redness of the eyelid linings or an irritation of the eyes followed by swelling or discharge

4)      If your child has difficult rapid breathing

5)      If your child has diarrhea (more than one abnormally loose stool in a 24 hour period)

6)      If your child states they don’t feel well and is not “acting like him/herself.”

7)      If your child is vomiting

It is York County policy that any child with a temperature greater than 100.0 degrees must stay home until they are fever free for 24hrs without the aid medicines such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen

Please remember to send in your notes!

Anytime a child is absent from school, comes in tardy, or leaves early due to an appointment please send in a doctor note, to excuse the absence from school. THANK YOU!!

*Dismissal Changes*

Please remember to send a note or email to your child’s teacher whenever dismissal changes need to be made. This will keep dismissal running smoothly for each and every child and will avoid confusion at the end of the day. Phone calls at the end of the day are discouraged unless it is an emergency.
