PTA Reflections Letter 2017

PTA Reflections Letter 2017

October 29, 2017

BMES Parents,

The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education. To get involved, students submit an original piece, for their school's Reflections Program in any of following arts areas: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, & Visual Arts.

The theme for this year is "Within Reach." If you would like your child to

participate, please email either myself or your child’s teacher so we can get them an official packet. Also, the following video was shown in your child’s class last week. Please talk with your student about what "Within Reach" means to them. I have also attached the Virginia PTA website with the links describing each area and the official rules.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances outside of my control, the Reflections Program was started extremely late this year. The York County PTA has graciously extended our due date to November 21. Individual projects will be judged that night so the winners may be submitted to York County PTA and judged at the county level. Winners will advance to Peninsula District PTA, then to Virginia PTA, and then on to National PTA.

Thank you,

Sarah McGuire
