The BAA/Fenway Library is the intellectual center for students and faculty of Boston Arts Academy and Fenway High School. In 1999 the library opened with the generosity of the Harcourt General Charitable Foundation. Since then library has developed a collection of print resources and other media to enhance the teaching of arts and academics.

In 2004 the library won the prestigious National School Library Media
program of the year from Americ  aan Association of School Libraries. The goal of the library media program is twofold: for students to grow in their appreciation of literature and to  develop into indepedent, life-long learners and critical thinkers by  integrating information literacy with their academics and arts.

Student library access comes in two forms: Teachers integrate information
literacy skills into student learning and classes come to use library resources. Students use the library for research associated with their arts and/or academic curriculum or for their own personal enrichment. The staff is comprised of one professional school librarian, a technology specialist, the Boston Symphony Orchestra Curriculum Specialist and School Library Interns from Simmons College.

Boston Symphony Orchestra Education Resource Center
To expand their work with teachers throughout the Commonwealth, the Boston Symphony Orchestra established an Education Resource Center housed in the BAA/Fenway Library (BSOERC). They provided the funding to build an extensive collection of fine arts resources, including books, music CDs, videos, DVDs, computers, and audiovisual equipment. The BSOERC generously allows all of the materials in to be used and borrowed by our faculty and students, as well as visiting educators from across the state.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra’s education department has developed a series of highly regarded programs that supplement and reinforce music
education initiatives in the public schools of metropolitan Boston and beyond, addressing a need for high-quality arts exposure and music education in the public schools.

The Boston Symphony Orchestra Education Resource Center offers:
• A library and media/technology center for teachers
• Curriculum resource kits to enhance classroom activities
• Professional development seminars
• A planning facility for administrators and teachers

We are grateful for the generous financial support that has enabled us to establish an exemplary school library for our students.
