Homeless (Students in Transition)

Title I assists the district in providing support for homeless students.  These services include providing the following support as appropriate for each situation: backpacks with school supplies, before or after school academic support for students who are academically eligible, school uniforms, and/or payment for educational field trips.

The school district is responsible for continually identifying migrant children as they enroll in school.  Once the students are identified and receive a Certificate of Eligibility from the State, the migrant children are eligible for Title I services.

A third party vendor is utilized to provide tutoring services to eligible students.  Parent engagement activities and professional development opportunities are offered to parents and teachers of Title I students.  Title I funds are generated by the number of economically disadvantaged students enrolled in the school who reside in public Title I school attendance areas.

Title I currently offers a variety of professional development sessions.  Teachers learn about theory and application for literacy and math instruction in whole group and small group.

Prekindergarten Programs:

Step FOUR ward VPK &

Head Start

The Title 1 Step FOUR ward VPK Program is committed to providing a high quality, developmentally appropriate pre-kindergarten experience for four-year-old children. The school district Head Start program is offered at a few Title I school sites and has specific eligibility requirements. Both Step FOUR ward VPK and Head Start offer a full day program with certified teachers and highly qualified instructional assistants.  The curriculum focus is on early language and literacy with the implementation of the VPK Education and Head Start Performance Standards. 

 
Title I coordinates its services with other agencies throughout Brevard County.  These agencies include Eastern Florida State College, Early Learning Coalition of Brevard, Inc., PREVENT!, Juvenile Justice, University of Central Florida, Child Abuse Prevention Task Force, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Centers, SEDNET, Brevard Family Partnership, School Board of Brevard County Head Start, Adult Education, Rolling Readers, English for Speakers of Other Languages, and local agencies serving homeless students and their families.
