Current superintendent, Dr. Brian Binggeli, will be leaving his post at the end of June to assume the superintendent position in Plano, Texas. The School Board of Brevard County has begun its search for someone to take the helm.
This is the most important decision the Board faces. The continued progress of our district will be determined by the educational leadership, management style, vision and experience of the individual who will serve as our executive officer.
In this effort, the Board determined to utilize the search firm, Ray and Associates,to initiate a nationwide hunt for the person who can best help us "To Serve Every Student with Excellence as the Standard." On April 14, 2015, the Board approved the composition of a Superintendent's Search Ad Hoc Committee that encompasses all geographic regions of Brevard County. The groups selected volunteeres to act as a representative to serve on this committee.
On April 15, 2015, an invitation was sent to all stakeholders asking for help in identifying the characteristics the Board will be seeking via an online survey. Advertisement was sent out via a press release as well as through an Edline message that was sent to all parents and staff who have active Edline accounts. The criteria established by this profile helped the Board form the basis for further advertising and a brochure.
The Board received 106 applications and in a special meeting held on June 2, 2015, with the help of Ray and Associates, narrowed down the field to six applicants to bring back for public interviews on June 8. Those candidates are Desmond Blackburn, David Christiansen, Anthony Jackson, Bob Morrison, Norman Ridder and John Stanford. (Dr. Morrison withdrew his name before the June 8, first round interviews)
Public interviews of these candidates will take place on Monday, June 8, 2015 beginning at 1:00 p.m. The meeting will be televised and web streamed live in case interested community members are unable to attend in person.
