The Arboriculture program exposes students to the many facets of the Tree Care Industry and focuses on the care and preservation of shade and ornamental trees.

The goal is to provide students with the skills and credentials necessary for a successful career in the Tree Care Industry.  Students may further their education at the college level or go directly into the Tree Care Industry as an entry level arborist.  Although the arboriculture curriculum focuses primarily on the residential and commercial tree care industries, the curriculum also prepares students to work with municipalities and utility tree care companies as well.

Students will gain a working knowledge of the following skills (but not limited to):

  • Identify types of trees, their cultures and uses
  • Anatomy, physiology and structural aspects of trees
  • Identification and management of tree problems (environmental, insect and disease pathogens)
  • Safe, innovative and efficient tree climbing techniques for working aloft
  • Safe chainsaw use
  • Tree felling techniques
  • Emergency response and aerial rescue techniques
  • Electrical hazards awareness qualifications
  • Bucket Truck Operation
  • Commercial Drivers License preparation and so much more
