Future Problem Solvers
The Future Problem Solving Club at Central Middle School (working in conjunction with Melbourne Community FPS Club) is a highly successful international academic competition club. Students and alumni of CMS FPS have competed at state FPS competition every year for the past 10 years and international competition 3 out of the last 4 years. The students pictured above include current and former CMS FPSers who attended the FPS International Conference at Indiana University in June 2013.
Students who compete in FPS can compete in 1 or more of the competition events. These include team booklet competition (4-6 students), individual booklet competition, individual scenario writing, and community problem solving (1-15 students). Students who compete for CMS FPS Club or Melbourne Community FPS Club MUST compete in either scenario writing or community problem solving (CmPS) to guarantee their invitation to state competition. Students who wish to compete in the team booklet competition are encouraged to form their own team with friends.
