Offers two (2) Impact Scholarships Worth $1,000.00 and $2,000.00.
Punta Gorda Charter Chapter’s – Education Committee of the American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) is offering two (2) scholarships worth ($1,000 or $2,000) funded through the Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund to two (2) deserving area student(s).
Each year, local chapters of ABWA provide Stephen Bufton Memorial Scholarships (SBMEF) to female students who will be attending accredited U.S. colleges, universities and community/vocational schools. Applicants must be citizens of the United States and residents of Charlotte County FL; entering (high school graduating seniors, college freshman, sophomore, etc) with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Impact Scholarship offers scholarships for tuition, books and fees of $1,000.00 for women who are seeking funds to be used at the freshman level or above at an accredited community college, technical or a vocational school in the Charlotte County area. An impact Scholarship for $2,000.00 is also being offered for students attending a U.S. college or university that offers a baccalaureate degree, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The school must be licensed, accredited or state approve.

No applicant is guaranteed a scholarship.
SBMEF, ABWA’s national educational fund, is one of the most highly respected grant and scholarship funds in the country. For over 60 years, ABWA has helped women achieve their business and professional success through educational scholarships. Since its inception, more than 16,000 women nationwide have been awarded more than 17 million dollars in scholarships.
The Stephen Bufton Memorial Educational Fund is a 501 (c) 3 charitable trust and public foundation. It has the same tax status as public schools, churches and community funds. The fund is listed in the U.S. Internal Revenue Service “Cumulative List of Organizations” described in Section 170(c) of the IRS code of 1954 – revised Oct. 31, 1974.
The Punta Gorda Charter Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association established in 1985 whose vision is: ‘We will foster personal and professional growth to our chapter and community through leadership, education, personal development and networking for all women to continue to grow positively”. Members from the Punta Gorda Charter Chapter meet the 4th Wednesday of each month at Hurricane Charley’s at 5:30 pm, in Punta Gorda.
