Welcome to AVID at Cocoa High School!
AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination and is a college and career readiness program. The program's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. In order to reach the mission, students are taught key skills not only needed for college, but for careers and the workforce as well - writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading, also known as WICOR.
All students can succeed, some just need a little help and guidance!
Cocoa High School is aiming to take AVID schoolwide and become a national demonstration school! It all starts with the engaging AVID elective class, awesome students, and the dedicated teachers below:
Ms. Gondek: AVID Coordinator & 9th - 12th grade elective teacher
Mrs. Gibbins: 7th - 8th grade elective teacher
If you have any questions or comments about the program, please reach out to the respective teachers above.
