The mission of the media center is to support our school goals for each child by providing an atmosphere that promotes lifelong learning through a variety of reading and information literacy programs.
Staff Mrs. Saam, Media Specialist Mrs. Nichols, Media Assistant
At Dr. W. J. Creel School, we have an open Media Center where students are able to check out books anytime during the school day and on any day with their teachers' permission. Students are expected to checkout leisure reading books at least once per week.
There is a school-wide Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) time each day from 2:05-2:30p.m. During DEAR, students are expected to be in their classrooms reading independently or being read to.
The Media Center has twenty-four computers available to students. These computers may be used for Destiny (electronic catalog of media center materials), computerized quizzes, internet research (with adult supervision & signed AUP on file), word processing, and a variety of student learning software.
The Media Center Handbook has more detailed information on programs, policies and procedures.
