History of the National Beta Club

The National Beta Club began as the dream of our founder, Dr. John W. Harris, a professor at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC. Since the first Beta Club was formed in Landrum, SC in 1934, The National Beta Club has become the nation's largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization. We are committed to recognizing and promoting high academic achievement, rewarding and nurturing worthy character, fostering leadership skills and encouraging service to others.

The National Beta Club has worked with over six million young people in grades 5-9 (Junior Beta Club) and grades 9-12 (Senior Beta Club). There are now more than 420,000 active members and more than 8,000 clubs nationally and internationally.  (National Beta Club website:  www.betaclub.org/aboutus.php)

Enterprise Elementary School Junior Beta Club Chapter

The Enterprise Elementary School Junior Beta Club Chapter, sponsored by Mrs. Howard, received its charter in 2016.  At the beginning of each semester, invitations for membership will be issued to sixth-graders who meet eligibility criteria as outlined in the chapter by-laws. New members will be inducted at least annually.  Members in good standing at the conclusion of sixth grade will be eligible for membership at the middle school in which they will be enrolled (if they have a Beta Club Charter).
