Principal's Message

As Principal of Golfview Elementary Magnet School, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome each of you to our school’s website, as well as introduce myself. I am Lucius Chambers Jr. and I WILL graciously work with all of our families to ensure that each of our amazing students are prepared and equipped with the necessary tools to have a successful year. I am joining TEAM Golfview with 15 years of educational experience, five of which have been dedicated to administration. In 2012 my family and I decided to relocate to Brevard. I had the privilege of working as a school counselor coupled with serving in the capacity of Assistant Principal for three years at Endeavour Magnet Elementary.

In the book, The Leader in Me, Steven Covey outlines one of the seven habits of an effective leader as, “Begin with the end in mind.” Keeping that spirit in mind, our school’s mission states:

Empowering students through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Math)

We are providing opportunities at Golfview for students to have learning experiences tied to future goals so they may compete in future global endeavors. Sixty percent of all blue-collar jobs in the year 2020 will be STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) related. Additionally, 15 out of 20 of the fastest growing jobs in America are in STEM related professions and 2.4 million STEM jobs will be available in the US within the next 5 years. I strongly believe we have an obligation to our state, city and more importantly OUR students to prepare them for the future. Creating a STEAM educational focus is one example of how we can prepare students with post-graduation skills that will be relevant in the future market.

At the core of my beliefs is the fact that EVERY child can learn and EVERY child is worth the effort. The Golfview family will seek to find those factors that challenge our students to reach the next level academically and prepare them for the future.

As we move forward in our efforts to do this, we will be challenged to understand a few universal truths about change. Change takes time and no one runs a gold medal race in the first attempt. It is also important to remember that we will keep getting what we have gotten if we keep doing what we have always done. One SCHOOL, one TEAM, one FOCUS… ACHIEVEMENT.

I am looking forward to working with each of you to give our students the best education possible. Feel free to visit with me as we embark on an exciting new school year and don’t forget to take a cyber tour of our website that highlights all the wonderful things our school has to offer. I am looking forward to meeting everyone at Open House.  We are Golfview!!!

Scholastically,

Lucius Chambers, Ed. S.
