Dear MHES Community and Family,
On behalf of the Moore Haven Elementary School Family & Community, it is truly my pleasure to extend a warm and heartfelt welcome to you. We at MHES are very pleased to welcome everyone to the 2014-2015 school year! To those students and parents who are new to MHES we extend an especially warm welcome and best wishes for an exciting and productive year in your new school. We hope that you will quickly feel at home and become involved in the activities of our school.
As I begin my 11th year as principal of MHES, I will continue to work diligently with parents and faculty to foster an atmosphere that promotes a learning community characterized by child centered instruction and decisions, academic excellence, trust, respect, community involvement, excellent communications, and recognition of both student and staff achievement. I am committed to working in collaboration with you to continue to develop and implement this shared mission. Working together as a team we will move forward in our mission to create a nurturing, disciplined, and challenging environment in which all students can learn at optimum levels and become responsible members of society.
As we prepare for the new school year, I am pleased to report on the progress we are making. The data that we are receiving from our students shows that they are making tremendous progress. Our students and staff are energized like never before, and that energy is showing as more and more of our students are 'catching up' and getting on grade level. The State of Florida has recognized this outsatnding growth by awarding MHES a school grade of "A" this year! We are extremely excited about the growth our students are making, but are striving to see even more of our students on grade level in the future. I hope that you will continue to help your child by putting them on I-Ready as much as possible. It allows our students to have fun and learn important skills at the same time. Thanks for all you do!
Plans are under way to create a pre-kindergarten program for 4 year olds at MHES in the 2015-2016 school year. The Southern Association for Colleges and Schools paid a visit to our summer pre-k program, and has sent word to the school and the Superintendent that our pre-kindergarten is now an accredited learning organization. That means that when you enroll your child in pre-kindergarten at MHES, you can be confident that your child is going to be a part of a quality educational environment. This is exciting news for our students and community! Please check back here for more news on our progress.
Thanks for visiting our site, and have a great year!
