Twenty seven FFA members and four chaperones travelled to Louisville, Kentucky February 12-13 to attend the nation’s largest indoor farm show. The National Farm Machinery Show (NFMS) features the agricultural industry’s most comprehensive display of equipment, services and technology.
Preston High School's FBLA team came home from the State Leadership Conference as winners in several categories: 2nd place in Intro to Technology Information, 3rd place in Digital Design and Promotion, 2nd place in Computer Problem Solving, 1st place in Impromptu Speaking, and 3rd place in Computer Applications.
Ten members and two of their Advisors from the Preston Co. FFA Chapter attended the 10th Annual WV Small Farms Conference that was held in Morgantown WV on February 28, 2014. During the course of the day, the students had 65 various agricultural classes and seminars in 50 minutes increments. The subjects ranged from gardens, forestry subjects, livestock raising, fruit trees, entomology, food safety, animal processing, farm business issues, and farm to school topics. It was a full day of learning from 8 am -4:30 pm.
Nicholas Barlow Wins 2nd Place at Regional Math Field Day Competition
Nicholas Barlow, a ninth grade student at PHS, recently won 2nd place at the Regional Math Field Day competition. He won 1st place in the Preston County 9th Grade Math Field Day competition and will now travel to Bethany College to compete at the state level. The state competition is scheduled for April 26. Worm composting bins were also provided to Ms. Murray's science classes by the Dominion Foundation Program.
