The RISD Book Review Program was implemented in 2000 to provide librarians with current books to review for possible inclusion in RISD library collections. Review materials are accepted into the collections according to district guidelines at no cost to the library program.
Teachers, administrators, staff, and parents are encouraged to participate in the Book Review Program as guest reviewers. At the beginning of each school year, guest reviewers are asked to fill out a Guest Reviewer Profile.
Once review books are received by the district, the bibliographic information is entered into an online spreadsheet. Reviewers may select books by reviewing the spreadsheet and submitting an online request or in person during the RISD Professional Library's regular business hours.
REVIEW SUBMISSION & ACCESS
Reviewers submit their evaluations online, and librarians have access to view the master spreadsheet of book reviews for the purpose of collection development. (Guest reviewers associated with an individual campus are asked to contact their campus librarian for directions. Guest reviewers at the central level are asked to contact Janet Shugart at firstname.lastname@example.org or 469.593.0740.)
