Former Business Manager Pled Guilty

Former Business Manager Pled Guilty

Hello RSU 63 Community and Residents,

Today we were informed that Yvonne Mitchell, former Business Manager for RSU 63, pled guilty to the theft of $215,000. Sentencing has been scheduled for January 8, 2018.

Yvonne Mitchell has not worked for RSU 63 since June 2013. In the fall of 2014, we alerted our attorney, law enforcement authorities, and our insurance carrier that we had identified certain financial transactions from previous years that required additional attention. RSU 63 also retained an independent accountant to conduct a forensic audit investigation. This forensic audit was completed and shared with law enforcement agents in December 2014.

We would like to thank Detective Margie Berkovich and Leanne Robbin, Maine’s Financial Crimes Division Chief, for their assistance and diligence.

RSU 63 will continue to cooperate with authorities. We ask that all questions be directed to the Office of the Attorney General.

We would also like to thank the public for your patience as we allowed this case to work through the legal system.
