School District U-46 will celebrate its 10th annual Principal for a Day (PFAD) on Friday, Dec. 1. The event gives community leaders a first-hand glimpse of what it is like to be a public school leader in this rich, diverse District of nearly 40,000 students. The program aims to help community leaders understand how U-46 operates and it builds long-term partnerships that will enrich the educational journey of students, educators and our community.
Last year, more than 75 guest principals immersed themselves in their school's culture by greeting students, visiting special programs such as Dual Language classes, talking with staff members and observing the myriad of decisions our school leaders make day in and day out.
To conclude the day, community leaders will convene for a luncheon sponsored by Marco, a leading technology services provider, at Villa Olivia in Bartlett. Former Illinois Secretary of Education Beth Purvis will share stories and observations as the featured speaker that afternoon.
