School District U-46 provides a comprehensive curriculum to children in grades preschool through 12th grade. At every step of a child's educational journey, we're committed to ensuring that our students are equipped with the skills to become college and work place ready. Just as students come in all shapes and sizes, activities to support student learning are designed to meet the needs of every student.

Assessment and Accountability
The Assessment and Accountability Office oversees testing and data to measure student performance.

 

AVID
AVID is a college readiness elective class for students in seventh through twelfth grade.

 

Career and Technical Education
Career and Technical Education provides learning opportunities that prepare middle and high school students for post-secondary education and future careers.

 

Common Core
Common Core State Standards (CCSS) are the next generation of K-12 standards developed to ensure that all students are college and career ready.

 

Curriculum & Instruction
The Curriculum & Instruction Department oversees the implementation of standards-based and specialized curriculum.

 

Dual Language
The Dual Language Program is a form of bilingual education in which students are taught literacy and academic content in two languages. 

 

Early Learners
The Early Learners program provides educational services to children from birth to kindergarten.

 

English Language Learners (ELL)
The ELL Department serves the educational needs of non-English dominant students & offers a dual language program that promotes bilingualism & biculturalism.

 

Fine Arts

The Fine Arts Department provides enrichment programs for students in preschool through high school with a variety of music and art opportunities.

 

Gifted Programs
U-46 provides a variety of gifted programs to ensure that every high-achieving student has an opportunity to excel. 

 

High School Academies
The High School Academies offer creative, interdisciplinary learning and give students a head start on a higher education. 

Instructional Technology
The Instructional Technology Department supports teacher and employee efforts to integrate technology in the classroom.    

 

Literacy
The Literacy Department oversees English Language Arts instruction for students in kindergarten through high school. 

 

Mathematics
The Mathematics Department oversees the math instruction and curriculum for students in kindergarten through high school.

 

MTSS (PBIS & RTI)
RTI & PBIS provide students with high-quality instruction and interventions through academic and behavioral supports.

 

Observatory/Planetarium
The Observatory/Planetarium provides students with astronomy lessons under the stars.

 

P.E. & Health Education
U-46 Physical Education promotes lifelong learning recognizing the value of personal development in the physical, affective and cognitive domains.

 

Science
The Science Department oversees all aspects of science education for kindergarten through twelfth grade students.
