Matt Erbach has been a U-46 instructor for eight years and taught at three district high schools, Bartlett, Elgin and Larkin, before coming to Streamwood.
He says he got his first taste of “real world” manufacturing at Swiss Automation Inc. in Barrington, and learned through courses at Harper College and Elgin Community College.
After earning his teaching degree from Northern Illinois University in 2005, Matt got his master’s degree in workforce development in 2014 from Southern Illinois University. He is applying to the Armour College of Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
Matt says his favorite shop tool is the micrometer, a device used for precise measurement, because “it forms the basis for what we do and teach.”
“It is a simple piece of machinery that is highly accurate, and the design is almost as old as precision manufacturing itself,” he said.
