Russell Bartz of South Elgin High School has taught and worked in precision manufacturing.
He has been an instructor for the past 14 years, teaching precision manufacturing and other vocational courses.
Before that, he spent more than 20 years working in the field. He was employed as a machine shop supervisor and spent years mastering the advanced machine tools that he now teaches his students to operate.
Along the way, Bartz earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Chicago State University and has completed the Master’s program at Roosevelt University.
He says his favorite piece of shop equipment is the computer numeric control milling machine.
“I love to create a product and a program and make it,” Bartz said. “The CNC machines give the ability to do some very interesting and complicated products.”
