Grounds Department

The Grounds Department is responsible for the upkeep of all the outdoor facilities in School District U-46 including landscaping, athletic fields, asphalt and concrete maintenance and repairs, fencing, playground sets, snow and ice management, etc.

 

The Department is staffed by 17 full time employees, 2 of those employees are full time mechanics that maintain the Plant Operations fleet of 65+ vehicles, 20 trailers and a large assortment of tractors, implements and equipment.

 

The athletic seasons include preparing almost 500 softball and baseball fields per season, marking over 30 football and soccer fields every week in season and working over 100 events at the stadiums each year as well as maintaining the stadiums and artificial turf at one of the sites.
