Now in its third year, Explore 2017 is a free event that highlights the connection between U-46 classes, post-secondary options, and careers. The event aims to inform and guide fifth through 10th grade students, and features U-46 faculty and staff who will explain the core classes, electives and popular high school course sequences. Local business and industry partners will showcase career options and explain how those U-46 courses prepare students for careers. From ultrasound technicians to attorneys, professionals will engage with U-46 students and demonstrate some of the skills used in their fields. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14 at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Dr., Elgin.
How to Get Involved
School District U-46 is offering the expo with the support of the the Alignment Collaborative for Education (ACE), an organization that helps bring together community resources to better support U-46 students so that they leave high school prepared to be contributing adults eager to live and work in their community. School District U-46 and its Citizens Advisory Council (CAC), a volunteer District-wide organization that represents the needs and the ideas of each individual school, launched the first expo three years ago.
Please consider donating your time at #Explore2017. Two general types of services are needed; those associated with demonstrating careers, such as health services, public safety and education, and those related to event operations, such as registration, sponsorship, marketing, and translations.
