Hi…..this is Coach Cox. I’m the PE teacher at Saturn Elementary. My primary job is to get your children physically active while keeping them as safe as possible. This includes doing exercises, jogging, and games that involve varying degrees of movement in them. At Saturn, we have 2 basic weeks……Calisthenics week, and running week. Calisthenics week, involves doing jumping jacks, picking daisys, toe touches, pushups, crunches, and leg lifts…..before playing different team sports like soccer, basketball, or holey ball. Running week, involves mainly, jogging around the field. We start off the year, doing one lap…..and eventually, make it up to 4 laps, or 1 mile.
I encourage the students to bring water bottles to PE, for hydration. Students need to wear the appropriate shoes to PE, as well. This is for their safety…….since footwear, not designed for running and playing in, can cause all kinds of injuries.
