The SPMS guidance department is dedicated to providing academic, career, personal, and social counseling to our middle school student body. The SPMS counseling program will provide an appropriate counseling and guidance program designed to meet the needs of the current students in grades five, six, seven, and eight. Youngsters in this age group are very diverse in their individual developmental stages. Research has suggested that children in the middle school age range are involved in three stages of maturation: childhood, emerging adolescence and adolescence. Children in the middle school group constitute a distinct stage of development involving similar physical, emotional, and mental characteristics.
