"Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Students and Parents, welcome to seventh grade! My name is Miss Katie Zavodny and I will be your seventh grade homeroom teacher this year. This is my second year at Saints Peter and Paul and my fifth year teaching 7th and 8th grade Language Arts and Reading. I am a 1999 graduate of Saints Peter and Paul, a 2003 graduate of Benet Academy, and a 2007 graduate of Illinois State University. I graduated in the spring of 2010 from Northern Illinois University with my Master's in Curriculum and Instruction and am currently pursuing Type 75 administrativ degree through Concordia University.
Besides teaching here at SSPP, I am heavily involved in athletics. I coach girls cross country and boys/girls track at York High School in Elmhurst. I am also a group fitness instructor specializing in cardio kickboxing.
This year looks to be a promising one full of many fun, educational, and social adventures as well as many challenges. It is my goal to help you succeed and reach your potential. In doing so, you will get the gratitude and satisfaction of all the hard work you put into school day in and day out. While it will be a challenging academic school year, I believe that each and every one of you will enjoy this year and prove to yourself all you are capable of doing.
Seventh grade is just another exciting journey in your life, and it is one where each of you will leave your unique imprint as a member of the seventh grade class of the 2011-2012school year.
I am looking forward to a great school year with all of you!
