Students will continue their exploration of literary works by studying selections that delve into various themes while focusing on various genres.  The course will consist of themes such as coming of age, meeting challenges, quest for justice, a non-fiction, and a Shakespeare unit.  Students will be exposed to a wide variety of short stories and novels that range from current pieces to timeless, essential novels that have adorned bookshelves for years.  Novels will be primarily read as a class and students will not only be assessed on reading comprehension, but on his/her own understanding and interpretation through the reflective process and making personal and worldly connections.  Projects, essays, public speaking, and skills utilized in Language Arts class will be carried over to Reading.
