Happy August and can you believe this, “Welcome Back!” I do hope you all had a wonderful, restful, and refreshing Summer break. I sure did. This year we have many challenges and many obstacles to master. Remember an obstacle is to block you, while a challenge is to test you! I hope to see all 640 of our students reach mastery of their goal this year.
It is that time again to start preparing the students to return to school. Here are a few reminders that may help you as you reestablish the daily routine. I will have the class assignments posted on the fence Sunday, 8/30/15, after 10:00am for your review.
The first day of school is always busy so please arrive early. Monday if you need assistance please see me or the parents on our playground wearing our Green Stowers T-Shirts. They will assist you with class location, and general information. Also, I will need some help daily with the crossing guard duty and pick up and drop off monitoring. If you have time please volunteer and help me, help our parents to keep our children safe.
The school day for Kindergarten through sixth grade commences at 8:10 am, school clock time, every day. I will have the drop off and walk through gates opened at 8:00 each morning to help with the last minute rush. Please arrive early. At 8:10 am each day I will lock the gates and everybody entering after the gates are locked will be considered tardy. We cannot control the traffic so I depend upon you to get the students to school and inside the gate by 8:10.
Parking is only allowed in the open parking spaces in the drive-up/drop-off parking lot. No parking is allowed along the wall at the drive through area, nor along the sidewalk in the reserved teacher parking lot. Please honor our parking procedures. All students walking to school must walk along the sidewalk and not walk through the parking lot. Cars do not see the students as they cross. Students are not allowed to cross the street by themselves. Please walk with them and cross with them for obvious safety reasons.
August 31-September 4 are minimum days. School will be dismissed at 1:15 each of these days. Please make sure to have your student picked up on time. Again we cannot control traffic so please take appropriate actions to pick up your student on time. Unfortunately, we do not have supervision after school so any student remaining on campus after 1:30 on minimum days, or 2:30 on regular days require a phone call to the authorities. So to avoid this please ensure your student is picked up before 1:30 on minimum days and 2:30 on regular days.
Please check our school website for information and events www.stowerselementary.org. The school calendar is there for you to read under the parent/student tab as well other informative items. Also remember that our calendar is a living breathing document so there can be last minute changes.
