Viera High School will be offering the preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) on October 10, 2018. The PSAT/MNSQT is an effective way for your student to start preparing for the SAT. In addition to providing a meaningful practice experience, these assessments give students personalized feedback on their academic strengths and weaknesses.
Recent legislation now allows students to use a concordant score on the PSAT Math subsection in place of a passing score on the Algebra I EOC.
Additionally, it is the only exam to qualify Juniors for the National Merit Scholarship.
The Florida Department of Education pays for and automatically signs up grade 10 students to take the PSAT/NMSQT. Students enrolled in other grade levels may participate in the PSAT/NMSQT, for a fee.
Students may study for the PSAT through Khan Academy at www.satpractice.org
