The WJCC GED®/Adult Education program consists of three components: the High School GED® Program, the Adult Education Program and GED® testing.
The High School GED® Program includes GED® Prep, Accelerated GED® and ISAEP classes. Students 16-18 years of age who are lacking at least one year of credits to graduate are referred to this program.
The Adult Education Program serves community members 18-years-old and older who are interested in earning a high school equivalency certificate. English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes are also offered.
The GED® exam is given monthly at the Educational Center at James Blair at 117 Ironbound Rd. in Williamsburg. Registration is required at least one week prior to the exam date.
The GED® Test fee is $58.00 for the full battery of tests; $10.00 each for tests that need to be retaken. A one-time only testing fee of $8.00 is charged (included in overall costs of exam). So, if you are a first-time taker and will take all 5 parts of the tests, you will pay $58.00. If you have to retake only 2 tests, the cost would be $20.00.
In January, 2014, the new GED® test will begin, with a higher cost. If you have already started taking the 2002 version of the test, you must have completed successfully all of the five subject areas by December 31, 2013.
