Welcome to the
Wyoming School Computer Lab!
Technology Integration allows us to research electronically, travel virtually, and explore globally in our classrooms, the Media Center, and the Lab. Our software and online programs enable us to create and present cross-curricular multimedia projects that enhance the Millburn Curriculum.
Students are introduced to basic computer usage, word processing, the use of graphics, and in the upper grades, graphing and spreadsheets. Digital still and video cameras help students and teachers create digital projects that can be shared in print or electronically. Podcasts and multimedia presentations are created to share research or for digital storytelling.
Every student has a unique network log in, however, we also use generic log in's for younger students and some collaborative projects.
The Computer Lab presently houses 30 iMac computers, a SMARTBoard 6065 Interactive Flat Panel (installed in February of 2016), microphones, headsets, and digital still & video cameras. The Lab is available to all teachers and their classes. Wireless mobile carts of MacBook laptops are also available for classroom use. We presently have 2 carts of iPads which are shared through out the building.
In addition to regular technology integration, fifth grade students have an opportunity to experience Broadcast Journalism through the production of a live announcement program. Using teleprompter software, a video camera, and an IP broadcasting application, students report upcoming school events, special lunch days, weather for the week, local sports results, and noteworthy news to the entire building. Recent broadcasts can be viewed on Edline.
