Artsonia!
View and share your child's artwork on the nation's largest online youth gallery!

Parents,

It is hard to believe how the year is flying by, and I cannot begin to express how impressed I am with the level of focus and engaged art making that has been occurring in the art classroom!

As many of you know, Morris Elementary School is now a part of the nation’s largest online youth gallery, artsonia.com.  Many of you have already submitted permission slips so that your child’s artwork can be viewed by others across the globe.  Some of you have created artsonia accounts which enables you to share your child’s artwork with family and friends near and far, assist your child in writing artist statements, and  track your child’s art education and developing skills, techniques, and conceptualizations.  If you have still not submitted a permission slip for your child, please do so as soon as possible – each child already has artwork uploaded to the site and waiting to be viewed by you!  If the slip has been lost or you have forgotten your access code, please let me know so that I can get a new slip to you.

Benefits of creating an artsonia account: When you create an account for your child using the provided access code, you will discover what incredible work he or she has been doing each week in the art room.  Over the past few weeks I have spent countless hours photographing, editing, and uploading your child’s work onto artsonia.  This process has been truly eye opening in the sense that each student’s progress can be clearly tracked and everyone has created something truly exceptional at this point.  I wish for you to have the opportunity to experience this as well, and to share this with others!

In addition to viewing and enjoying the work already on artsonia, you as the parent are welcome to upload exceptional artwork created by your child at home.  This will also help your child to win various “awards” offered through artsonia.  For example, students are recognized for submitting an abundance of artwork, for consistently writing artist statements, as well as receiving positive feedback from family and friends.

Finally, one of the major perks of artsonia is that it also functions as a fundraiser for the art classroom.  There is a wide variety of items than can be purchased featuring your child’s artwork, and 20% of the proceeds are returned to Morris Elementary for the purchase of new art supplies and materials.  By supporting your child’s art making, you are also supporting the art program at Morris!

Once again, please return those permission slips to school as soon as possible so that we can make the Morris Online Gallery a place to return to year after year!
