And progress reports will be posted to EdLine the Friday after we return. With report cards going home this week, we decided to push that out a week so that students would have enough new grades to warrant the progress report.
I am proud to announce that we have finished our first round of PARCC assessments! Students and staff did an incredible job during the assessments. Students were focused, worked hard, persevered though challenging moments, and strove to perform to the best of their ability. Basically, they did everything we could ever ask! Staff did a great job implementing a new assessment while also positively supporting our students! I always say that Birchland Park is the best middle school in the state and this was simply more evidence to back this up.
Please see below also for more information on our Social Media Awareness Night on Tuesday, April 28th from 6 to 8 pm. It will be a very worthwhile presentation on a challenging topic and our middle school students are invited to attend with parents. Again, more info below.
I am so proud to announce that after our Pasta Dinner (and many other fundraising events earlier this year) that we have reached our goal of raising $8,200 to build a clean water well for a village in South Sudan. As a result, a well will be built in the village, which will then allow a school to be built. This was truly a group effort that included incredible efforts from students, families, staff, and communitiy organizations. Our goal all along was to show our young adolescents that they can have a major impact on the larger world - mission accomplished! Thanks to everyone who was able to support this initiative in so many different ways! We here at the school feel proud and truly blessed that we were able to accomplish this.
