The Haunted House is a service project that involves CMH students and their parents. Proceeds from the event go directly to a charity serving veterans.
This year our organization is Operation FINALLY Home (OFH). The mission of OFH is provide customized, mortgage-free houses for veterans and their families. Often times the veterans have suffered significant injuries. In other cases the homes are for the families of soldiers that gave their life while serving. The proceeds will stay in Wisconsin and benefit veterans and their families in our area.
The Haunted House is held at the building formerly known as Maniac Manor, a 130 year-old house on the CMH campus and is home to the 10th annual CMH Haunted House. There are many ways to get involved, from chaperoning work days, to building the rooms to participating during the open Haunted House days.
Student/Parent Info Meetings: September 6th (Wednesday) and a repeat session September 7th (Thursday) from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons (Cafeteria) – We will discuss this year’s Haunted House and then tour the house. All interested students and parents should attend.
Work dates: September 16th (Saturday) from noon – 3 p.m., September 19th (Tuesday) from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., September 24th (Sunday) from noon – 3 p.m., September 30th (Saturday) from noon – 3 p.m., October 3rd (Tuesday) from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., October 7th/8th (Saturday/Sunday) from noon – 3 p.m., and October 14th (Saturday) from noon – 3 p.m. Other dates may be announced. Dates subject to change.
Dress Rehearsal: October 16th (Monday) from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Haunted House tour dates: Friday & Saturday nights, 7:00-10:00, October 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th (family hour October 21st & 28th, 6:00-7:00) - Clean up date October 29th.
How Can I Get Involved? You can work as much or as little as your schedule allows!
*We need students to do preliminary work on the house and rooms as well as to work the rooms the nights the house is open.
*Students who wish to sponsor a room should submit a proposal to the Haunted House committee. The proposal will need to include students and parent involvement and supplies that will be used. Proposals will be online and more information will be released soon.
*Student tour guides the night(s) of the Haunted House
*Students dressed up and roaming the house and outside. (This is different than those in a room)
*Chaperone: We need many parents to help out during the work days/nights as no student is allowed in the Haunted House without adult supervision. ANYONE OVER 18 WHO IS NOT A STUDENT AT CMH MUST TAKE THE “SAFEGUARDING ALL GOD’S CHILDREN” CLASS! (Information at www.archmil.org)
*Help build and design rooms with the students *Help with concessions, admissions, security, etc.
