Welcome to Meadowvale Elementary School, home of the Mustangs! Meadowvale is located on 13 acres just outside the historic city of Havre de Grace and near the confluence of the beautiful Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay. The school serves children in pre-kindergarten through grade five with a variety of programs to support the needs of all learners. Our mission statement defines Meadowvale as an effective school community where motivated and engaged students apply what they have learned, and exceed expectations in order to become productive citizens who are career and college ready. Our school community is comprised of dedicated and caring faculty and staff, a strong Parent Teacher Association, an active volunteer program, strong community partnerships, and a diverse student body.
The School Improvement Plan is developed each year to identify strategies and programs to maximize student achievement for every child. Student data is analyzed and used to track progress and identify the appropriate instructional group for each child in reading and mathematics. By offering enrichment and intervention programs before, during and after the school day, Meadowvale is able to ensure that the highest level of instruction is being provided to our students each and every day. The faculty and staff are committed to ensuring that students receive the highest quality instruction in a safe and secure environment.
Meadowvale Elementary School enjoys a true partnership with the community. The PTA supports the teachers, staff and students in numerous ways. The PTA donates a set amount of funds to support transportation costs for grade level field trips, cultural assemblies and special events, implements the Patriot Program, sponsors the annual Fall Festival, Holiday Shop and Spring Fling. In addition, volunteers provide assistance in the classroom and help prepare materials for teachers. Partnerships with local community businesses support the school in a variety of ways throughout the school year. Meadowvale students are able to enjoy learning outdoors in the wetland area that was developed by Vulcan Quarry, a school business partner. Each year, Meadowvale recognizes and celebrates members of the school community who are currently serving or have served as a member of the Armed Services in a Veterans Day Assembly.
Meadowvale offers many opportunities for students to become lifelong learners academically, as well in the arts and special areas with instruction in vocal music, orchestra, band, art, media, and physical education. Students have the opportunity to participate in the Mustang Milers Club, Turkey Trot, and annual Art Show. The school-wide character education programs focuses on helping students develop skills that enable them to be productive students as well as kind, caring and compassionate citizens. Students have been empowered to plan, implement and participate in Friendship Week, Pennies for Patients and the American Cancer Relay Recess Program. We are proud that for 55 years, Meadowvale has continued to support the motto, “Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders”.
